R Panel & PBR Panel
The R Panel and Purlin Bearing Rib (PBR) Panel are the industrial powerhouses of the metal construction world. Engineered for maximum strength, these profiles are the standard for commercial warehouses, industrial facilities, and heavy-duty agricultural buildings. Their rugged, high-profile aesthetic has also made them a top choice for modern “barndominiums” and residential projects requiring an architectural statement.
While both panels feature bold 1-1/4″ high ribs spaced 12 inches apart, the PBR Panel includes an additional “purlin bearing leg.” This extra leg provides a larger overlap at the lap joint, creating a more secure metal-to-metal connection. This design significantly improves weather-tightness and structural stability, making PBR the preferred choice for roofing applications. The standard R Panel is an economical and durable alternative frequently used for high-performance siding and wall cladding.
Both versions offer superior spanning capabilities, allowing them to bridge greater distances between supports compared to standard residential panels.
